At the conclusion of this session, participants should be able to understand:

  • Interplay of Serum 25 Vitamin D, Serum 1,25 Vita-min D and Plasma
  • Parathyroid hormone in the management of sec-ondary Hyperparathyroidism.
  • Importance of Extra Renal 1 alpha Hydroxylase activa-tion in treatment of secondary Hyperparathyroidism.
  • Importance of tight control of secondary Hyperparathy-roidism to slow down the progression of kidney disease.

Target Audience and Statement of Need 
This course is designed for all physicians of Houston Methodist, affiliate hospitals in the surrounding community, and Weill Cornell Medical 
College. The attending staff of the Department of Medicine at Houston Methodist Hospital is a diverse group of medical professionals who 
need a means to obtain the latest evidence-based advances in Internal Medicine. Medicine Grand Rounds provides a venue to interact with
