Overview of Safety Committees
Session eight of the Navigating Research Protections Series provides an overview of HMRI Safety Committees’ purpose, scope, and essential role in maintaining research compliance and safety. The focus of this session is the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), which reviews research involving recombinant and or synthetic nucleic acids molecules. Safety Committee experts will walk through the regulations and institutional policies governing research subject to the NIH Guidelines for Research Involving Recombinant or Synthetic Nucleic Acid Molecules and common challenges researchers encounter when completing IBC-related documentation.
