Title:Advanced Drug Delivery Platforms for Immuno-Chemotherapy in Cancer and Chronic Inflammatory Disorders

The rational design of polymeric devices for the controlled delivery of therapeutic and imaging agents requires integrating principles from multiple. This lecture highlights the essential role of this multidisciplinary approach by reviewing examples of nanomedicines and hierarchicallyorganized drug delivery systems developed in the laboratory of Paolo Decuzzi, PhD, at the
Italian Institute of Technology in Genoa. These systems include microMESH, microPLates and methyl-palmitate nanoparticles. Through these examples, basic concepts in nanomedicine and drug delivery will be introduced, demonstrating the potential of hierarchically-organized platforms to enable the precise deployment of complex therapeutic regimens. Such platforms are designed to overcome biophysical barriers and address biological heterogeneity in cancer, chronic inflammatory diseases and other medical disorders.
