Commander Christopher Steele, a Department of Defense program director, will visit Houston Methodist on Wednesday, December 11, to discuss opportunities for funding in four specific priority areas of his program. In preparation for his visit, the Faculty Development team is holding a Letter of Intent (LOI) pre-proposal development workshop on October 16. It will be led by Steven Bradfute, PhD, a scientist with a successful track record of DoD funding. Bradfute, an assistant professor in the University of New Mexico Center for Global Health and Department of Internal Medicine, received his PhD in immunology from Baylor College of Medicine (2005) and held a fellowship at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases, where he studied immune responses to hemorrhagic fever viruses, including the filoviruses (ebolaviruses, marburgviruses, and cuevaviruses).
On Wednesday, October 16, Bradfute will offer two workshop sessions that are free and open to the public. Each workshop session offers the same content but will allow open discussion in small groups, with hands-on coaching when preparing LOI’s. Each attendee is asked to bring a first draft of their LOI to the workshop. Please register now to reserve your spot in one of the two pre-scheduled time slots.
