Deborah Mansfield, MS, MBA, offers a wealth of expertise for empowering the academic researcher-turned-entrepreneur to translate ideas from bench to bedside and market. An innovation business development professional, she will provide an overview of resources--local, regional and “beyond Texas”--and share her insights on business acceleration, startup methodology and early business funding. As director at the Houston Technology Center for 13 years, Mansfield assisted over 400 startups, facilitating over $54 million in awards from the Texas Emerging Technology Fund. She has served as a coach and judge for pitch events and hackathons, including SXSW and TMCx Accelerator. Initially a bench scientist, she eventually managed $90 - $120 million monthly in grant applications at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Currently, she consults on domestic and international business and economic development.
