This Fundamentals of RCR Course is intended to meet federal requirements for training in Responsible Conduct of Research and to maintain an institutional culture of the highest integrity in all Houston Methodist research endeavors. The eight-session, in-person course promotes fundamental knowledge and practical skills for research in all disciplines, encourages open discussion with subject matter experts in these areas, and presents an opportunity to interact with experienced Houston Methodist faculty for real-world guidance. 

 

•    Session 1 (9/9/24) - Scientist as Responsible Member of Society, Intro to RCR, Safe Lab environments, COI and Reporting. 
•    Session 2 (9/12/24) - Data Management and Security 
•    Session 3 (9/16/24) - Laboratory Safety and Pre-Clinical work: Protecting Laboratory Members and Animal Subjects 
•    Session 4 (9/23/24) - Mentor/Mentee relationships, Responsible Authorship, Peer Review 
•    Session 5 (9/30/24) - Human Subject Research Protections (Fondren 100 Conference Room)
•    Session 6 (10/17/24) - International Collaborations: Export Control, and Undue Foreign Influence 
•    Session 7 (10/21/24) - Research Integrity and Misconduct 
•    Session 8 (10/28/24) - Interactive Panel with Methodist Research Scientists, RCR Pledge
