Fundamentals of Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Course

Event description
This Fundamentals of RCR Course is intended to meet federal requirements for training in Responsible Conduct of Research and to maintain an institutional culture of the highest integrity in all Houston Methodist research endeavors. The eight-session, in-person course promotes fundamental knowledge and practical skills for research in all disciplines, encourages open discussion with subject matter experts in these areas, and presents an opportunity to interact with experienced Houston Methodist faculty for real-world guidance.
The topics for each of the eight sessions are as follows:
*Monday, August 18, 2025 - Scientist as responsible member of society, Intro to RCR, Safe Lab environments, COI, Reporting (Dunn/Comal/Frio Rm)
*Thursday, August 21, 2025 - Data Management and Security (Dunn Blanco Rm)
*Monday, August 25, 2025 - Laboratory Safety and Pre-Clinical work: Protecting Laboratory Members and Animal Subjects (Dunn/Comal/Frio Rm)
*Thursday, August 28, 2025 - Mentor/Mentee relationships, Responsible Authorship, Peer Review (Dunn Blanco Rm)

*Thursday, September 4, 2025 - International Collaborations: Export Control, Foreign Influence (Dunn Blanco Rm)
