This Fundamentals of RCR Course is intended to meet federal requirements for training in Responsible Conduct of Research and to maintain an institutional culture of the highest integrity in all Houston Methodist research endeavors. The eight-session, in-person course promotes fundamental knowledge and practical skills for research in all disciplines, encourages open discussion with subject matter experts in these areas, and presents an opportunity to interact with experienced Houston Methodist faculty for real-world guidance.
- Session 1: Monday, Feb 2, 2026 – Scientist as responsible member of society, Intro to RCR, Safe Lab environments, COI, Reporting
- Session 2: Wednesday, Feb 4, 2026 – Mentor/Mentee relationships, Responsible Authorship, Peer Review
- Session 3: Monday, Feb 9, 2026 – Rigor and Reproducibility: Gold Standard
- Session 4: Wednesday, Feb 11, 2026 – Laboratory Safety and Pre-Clinical work: Protecting Laboratory Members and Animal Subjects
- Session 5: Monday, Feb 16, 2026 – Data Management and Security
- Session 6: Wednesday, Feb 18, 2026 – International Collaborations: Export Control, Foreign Influence
- Session 7: Monday, Feb 23, 2026 – Research Integrity and Misconduct
- Session 8: Wednesday, Feb 25, 2026 – Interactive Panel with Methodist Research Scientists
