STATEMENT OF NEED
Increase understanding in the nephrology community on the importance of Women’s Health issues in the care of patients with CKD.
TARGET AUDIENCE
The target audience for this activity is: Clinicians, Residents, Fellows, Staff Physicians, APPs.
EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
- To review the impact of chronic kidney disease stage 3B to 5D on menstrual physiology and on kidney health.
- To discuss the impact of CKD stage 3B to 5D on fertility, sexual dysfunction, and menstrual cycles.
- To explore the benefits and potential side effects of usage of oral contraception and hormonal treatment for this patient population
- To specifically assess the risks and benefits of usage of hormone therapy and contraception for CKD patients
